I have have been coming to Panchos for over 23 years. The Panchos in my home town buried down about 15 years ago. Ever since then I drive over 75 miles to come eat here for special occasions. I love this place. Make sure you try there signature Panchos dressing, can't eat Panchos with out it.

Service was fine. Chips seemed to be store bought. Taco salad did not come with a shell, just a handful of chips. Wasn't horrible, just not a typical Mexican restaurant experience.

Wow,what a TURD. I can't believe the absolute ignorance and stupidity of the staff, and management. Just sorry. Ignorance is bliss.

After getting a flat tire, and getting a hotel nearby, my partner and i drove around looking for something different. Pancho's looked like a fun place! The inside was much different. It looked like it was just closing. We would have gone elsewhere, but were seated anyway. The food tasted microwaved, and thrown together. The staff weren't rude, but they definately weren't friendly either. For what we paid, the food and service should have been much better. Consider yourself forewarned. This isn't real mexican food.

Stopped here on a road trip from Austin with my family. Most of the positive reviews of this place seem to agree that "it's not Mexican food, it's Pancho's food." Well, they should put that over the door because as a native Texan I was extremely disappointed. The "cheese dip" (it's definitely not queso) was served cold and the salsa was watery and bland. The chips were weirdly powdery. They also give everyone at the table their own salsa and queso, which seems like way too much to me. Poor dishwasher! I split the steak quesadillas which I thought would be hard to mess up and they were mostly fine until I discovered the weird mustardy vinaigrette Pancho's seemed to put on all the meals we ordered. I have never seen anything like that bizarre salad dressing at any Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant. Just so strange. The staff were nice and our waitress was attentive, and the decor was cute and fun which is why I gave two stars. If you've eaten here before then you should be fine but if you're from out of town and expecting anything close to actual Mexican food, you'll be disappointed.

Good chips but a little salty. I like that it was a powdery kind of salt that stuck to the chips. The cheese dip and the Pancho's classic hot dip were excellent, some of the best around. Waitress was very friendly but disappeared on me when my beer ran dry and I was really thirsty from the salty chips I ordered the Poncho Sampler which included Taco Salad, Chicken Guadalajara, Shrimp Veracruz and beans $ 11.99 Taco salad was meh, I was glad I did not order the whole one that I was contemplating. The problem was generic taco meat. The beans were covered with a massive amounts of onions and red sauce. I prefer them more straight up. Chicken Guadalajara is smoked chicken mixed with cheese sauce and rice. It was very tasty and very rich, so the sample size was perfect. It was the best part of the sampler Shrimp Veracruz was very similar to the chicken Guadalajara except with shrimp that was flavorless. I would have given them more stars had the taco salad been better and if the shrimp had more flavor

I had high hopes when the original Pancho's Cheese Dip from my childhood arrived. Unfortunately, this was to be the best part of the meal. Although the service was ok the food was not. I figured you could go not go wrong with the tacos al carbon. I was wrong. The the entire plate had oil standing in it, when I picked one up to take a bite, grease came streaming out, not to mention there was hardly any meat in the tacos just oily greasy onions and peppers. The refried beans were ok but the mexican rice was dried out and looked like it had been sitting around since lunchtime. Don't waste your money there are plenty of adequate Mexican places. This was unacceptable.

Real sweet customer service that didn't mind that the group I was part of got loud at one point. Our waitress was awesome and kept our drinks refilled constantly and answered any questions we had on the food not minding we removed some stuff. The taco salad I ordered wasn't what I thought it was it was just a pile of cold meat and unmelted cheese on too much lettuce with a few chips, nothing like what the menu description said it was.I'm giving this place four stars cause the staff was excellent.

Yes, I really gave Pancho's 4 stars and I considered giving it 5. I honestly like the food. It's not authentic Mexican food, and they don't claim that it is. It's just Pancho's food, and it's delightful. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is the shrimp Veracruz. It's even better with the green dressing on it. Really, they could put the green dressing on cardboard and serve it up, and i would eat it. That stuff makes everything fantastic! The tamales, enchiladas, taco salad and Mexican pizza are quite tasty as well. The chips and cheese dip are pretty good too, not to mention the cheese dip, though limited, is still free there. The very first time I can remember eating Mexican food was at this very same location. My sister-in-law, who is several years older than me, ordered me a Shirley Temple and I was afraid to drink it. I still order them from time to time. The hubs has a heart-warming affection for this place because it reminds him of eating there with his mother. We drive 30 minutes just to eat at the West Memphis Pancho's. We always get good food and great service here. I really hope West Memphis doesn't pass the BSL they're considering, because I won't do business in West Memphis anymore, and we would seriously miss eating at Pancho's.

Horrible service on Monday at lunch time. Staff seemed stoned and cheese dip was frozen. At least two tables got up and walked out

I spotted the billboards on I-55 South and decided to try it. It was just the kind of food I was expecting. The chilled cheese dip was a surprise but it was quite good! I was pleased.

Been eating at a Pancho's location for years. Normally eat at the location on White Station in East Memphis. A few weeks ago I tried their original location in West Memphis and liked it much better. Service is good. Not fast but good. I fill up on the chips which makes me sad as then I don't have room for the rest of my dinner. The food has arrived each time HOT and fresh. Love the guacamole. Good and chunky. Our waiter was Tiger and he was great. Knows his stuff.

This is Mexican food for people that don't like Mexican food. No cheese on the enchiladas, No spice in the beef, No spice in the chicken taco, refried beans needed salt. They serve a "Pancho's Sauce" that you are supposed to put on your taco that tastes like it's a yellow mustard vinaigrette. In all my years of eating Mexican food, I've never seen this. The Queso Blanco dip was served cold, that's a new one on me. The salsa was out of a can. Are there no Mexicans in West Memphis?

Oh boy..the best thing here is the cheese dip and you can buy that at Walmart! For the rest of the food all I can say is "tv dinner." Especially the tamales. Everything came out with a dry film like substance as if it had been sitting bad there forever. The beans were probably the worst. The only thing I managed to really eat was my taco but only about half. My mom let me try a bite of her chicken taco and everyone agreed it tasted like tuna fish?!!! Also the staff needs some help. They were all fairly friendly but we had to wait for 10 minutes and I KNOW I saw empty tables?!! And then they didn't even inform us that there are benches around the corner if the entryway that you can sit in. We had been to Pancho's in the past and it was it and miss. This was the last shot.

The food was horrible! Cheese dip was cold, our sever was grouchy. My husbands fajita quesadilla was pathetic with hardly any meat or veggies. The kids said it was the worst food they ever had. The bathroom had no toilet paper. The best part was the mint as we walked out the door.

Love this place. Great place to eat. A real throwback. Dimly lit, old building, old floor, old walls...great character. Feels like old Mexico. The food is great, the dip is too. I always end up with the shrimp Veracruz. Cheesy and good. In a word...Classic!

If you grew up on Ponchos, you need to check this place out. This is the original restaurant over in West Memphis Arkansas. It's not authentic, it's Pancho's. Ask for the Ponchos sauce and put it on everything, it's great. And the service was fantastic and fast. Definitely different inside.

I would have to say, without a doubt, this is the worst Mexican cuisine that I have ever consumed in my life. They lure you in with the individual salsa and queso, which is pretty decent. Then when your entree comes out, it reeks of shitty lettuce and you start to notice that your cheese looks like it has been microwaved. The soggy lettuce confirms that. When you get to the actual food consumption, salt and pepper is something not found in West Memphis. The chicken burrito tasted like someone had shredded chicken and soaked it in orange juice. If I'm unable to update this review, I am most likely dead from food poisoning.

We went to eat after our best friend got married in Marion last Friday and the food was a great as I remember Pancho's being. Had read a few of the reviews and was scared we made a mistake, but I was so happy after we ate. The Shrimp Veracruz was as good as I remember. The service was just a little slow and not sure why. There was not many people in our section, but not sure that was the only section the waitress had. I would go back anytime.

A Memphis institution. Don't go for authentic Mexican. Go for the cave like ambience and the famous cheese dip and taco dressing.

I loooove this place so much. Every time we are in the area we come here. We even made the hour and a half drive on valentines day for this wonderful food. I highly recommend the tacos al carbon. If you haven't tried you panchos dressing you are missing out big time! I swear that stuff is liquid crack. I highly recommend stopping here.

If you are looking for good Mexican food you should avoid this place at all costs. I was trying to find a place to eat that was not far outside of Memphis when I happened across this place. Since it was 5 minutes away from my office I figured why not. It did not take long for me to figure out why I should have stayed away. The first problem was the "traditional" chips and salsa. Nope, sorry. I should have cut out right there but my lunch time is short. The chips were poured from a bag that probably came from Costco. Not fried or baked like most restaurants. The salsa came from a can with another bowl of something that might have been cold cheese, not quite sure on that front. The price would normally have been another red flag. Everything was about 15-20% more expensive than the typical "authentic" Mexican restaurant. I usually avoid high priced places during lunch and they are much more expensive than they are worth. The main entree was horrendous. It was a simple beef taco salad (apparently when I asked for a chicken taco salad the waiter neglected to advise me that it didn't come in chicken flavor) which had to have been poured from a can. Canned beef is not good under almost any circumstance. This beef had been mashed onto more of their tortilla rounds and their was some lettuce and shredded cheese and sour cream. Everything you expect from Taco Bell's Nacho Bell Grande, which is where I should have eaten. I did not eat much but frankly I'm surprised I didn't find a cigarette butt or two in the meat. The waiter also gave me some kind of yellow sweet sauce. Maybe it was made from corn or something but it didn't belong on, well, anything I had. And no, it didn't make anything taste better. I wanted to complain but I figure the poor waiter had dealt with his fair share of complaints there so I figured, why bother. Honestly, I think the owner should leave Mexican cuisine to the local Hispanic population and try his hand at something else. The building was nice enough and I bet it would make a great sports bar and grill. Just get better cooks and ingredients. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra couple miles west on the interstate and get some good Mexican food at Margaritas.

I was very disappointed in the quality of food here. The chips are not your typical mexican tortillas. They are like the chips you get in a bag from walmart but stale & cold. The salsa was very good but the cheese deep wasn't mexican cheese. I tried the spinach quesadilla & the spinach enchilada. The spinach tastes like cardboard and was chopped up - i'm 100% sure it was frozen and from a box. There was no good mexican cheese inside either. The lettuce was off color. The enchilada had a white sauce poured over it and it tasted like cream of chicken soup & i'm pretty sure that's all it was. The restaurant had dim lighting where they placed us and the service was okay. Better ingredients would have earned a better score.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
